“Kazakhstan Day” workshop

Kazakhstan Day was the first cultural exchange workshop of the of the Faculty of Education and Psychology, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). The workshop “Kazakhstan Day” was held at the Faculty of Education and Psychology from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) on 22th March, 2018. The date was not selected coincidentally. From 21-23, March, Kazakhstan celebrates the national holiday Nauryz (Nowruz) - New Year of Zoroastrian origin that is celebrated in countries of Central and Western Asia.


The workshop introduced the Kazakhstan culture developmental trend over the time through the demonstration video and then presented the education system and reforms/innovations of Kazakhstan for educational purposes.



Four Kazakhstan doctoral students organized the event under the title of “Education Modernization and Development in Kazakhstan: Drift or Thrust into the 21st century?”. The two students were from the international Educational Science doctoral programme “European Doctorate in Teacher Education” (EDiTE) and other two students were from the “Adult Learning and Education” programme. The event covered the topics such as Government Reform, Overview on educational institutions, Reforms in Higher Education, Reforms in Secondary Education, Change in Labor Market, Transitions to 12-year-education, Trinity of Languages, Modernization intervention, Certification of teachers in Secondary Education, Teacher Professional development in HEIs, School Teachers Professional development. At the end of the presentation, the “Q & A” session was held. The participants showed a great interest in the event by raising many questions. The guests of the workshop were mainly doctoral students and professors of the Doctoral School of Education at ELTE PPK. The event was closed with the closing speech of Dr. Gábor Halász, the EDiTE program leader.
